Playback

The sleep timer didn't pause the audio.

The sleep timer fades and pauses the player. If you opened a phone call, switched apps, or unplugged headphones while the timer was running, the audio may have stopped earlier and the timer is now tracking against no playback. Reopen the app and start a fresh episode to verify the timer works.

Audio cuts out when my screen turns off.

This usually means a battery-saver mode is suspending the app in the background. On Android, find Hearth & Home Radio in Settings → Apps → Battery and switch it to "Unrestricted." On iOS, this should never happen — the app uses the background audio entitlement.

Some shows show fewer episodes than I expected.

We only include episodes that are at least 8 minutes long, and we deduplicate near-identical uploads. If your favorite show is missing an episode, write to us and we'll investigate — we'd rather show every real episode than miss any.

Downloads

I downloaded an episode, but it won't play offline.

Check that the download finished (the cloud icon next to the episode should turn into a checkmark, not a downloading-progress ring). If the icon never finished, tap to retry the download.

Downloads use too much storage.

Open the Saved tab and tap the menu next to any episode to delete it. We don't compress audio further than the source — a typical 25-minute show is 8–12 MB.

Wake alarm

The wake alarm didn't fire.

On Android, the wake alarm requires "Alarms & reminders" permission — set this in Settings → Apps → Hearth & Home Radio → Permissions. On iOS, alarms are scheduled as local notifications; make sure notifications are allowed.

Account and data

How do I delete my data?

The app doesn't have accounts and doesn't send any data to us — all your favorites, listening history, and downloads live only on your phone. To delete everything, uninstall the app. You can also clear specific items from Settings → Storage.

Will you ever add ads or paid features?

Not in the foreseeable future. The app is built as a labor of love by a small team and runs on a tiny budget. If we ever add a paid feature, the core experience will remain free, and we'll never sell your data — there's none to sell.

Bugs and feature requests

I found a bug.

Email us with a short description of what you were doing, what you expected, and what happened instead. Screenshots help a lot. We read every message.
